The Cafesjian center for the Arts brings the best of contemporary art to Armenia and is the best of the world of culture of Armenia. The center offers a wide variety of artifacts from the personal collection of the founder of the Center – of Gerard Gafeschyana.
Since its Grand opening in November 2009, the Centre for contemporary art renamed after Cafesjian continues the demonstration of unique works of modern art and offers a variety of programmes, guest speakers, films, concerts, and numerous educational initiatives for adults and children. In 2011, the Center are visited by more than 1 200 000 million visitors.
Yerevan Cafesjian Center for the arts, is one of the leading centres for contemporary art in the world. In the complex area of more than 11 thousand square meters including a visitor Center, Museum shop, a hall for special events and area for exhibitions.
A large part of the exhibition is presented at the Center for contemporary art, obtained from the private collection of its founder and benefactor, Mr. G. Gafeschyana. This collection consists of more than 5,000 works and includes one of the most complete collections of glass in the world.
The collection is especially rich in works of Czech artists Stanislav Libensky and Yaroslava Brychtova whose collective work has revolutionized the use of glass in the art world. The collection contains works by glass artists as Dale Chihuly, Bohumil Elias, Paul Hlava, Jaromir Rybak, Ivan Sramkova, Bertil Valien, Lino Tagliapietra, mark Peizerat, and Hiroshi Yamano. In the collection there are also interesting exhibits of paintings and sculptures by artists such as Fernando Botero, Archil Gorky, Jennifer Bartlett, Lynn Chadwick, Barry Flanagan, Jaume Plensa and françois-Ckavier Lalanne.
